I have read on other forums that I should be able to run 35's without a lift, so when the time comes to replace the factory tires I want to look at new rims and a set of 35's.
Those other forums are crazy, don't listen to them. You can certainly daily drive with 35's but the second you get on the trails and start flexing you will rub and potentially slice a tire. If you get a wheel with backspacing of about 4.5" and a 12.5 wide tire (typical 35" width...sometimes 13.5) you will be fine daily driving with minor trimming. To make sure those 35's don't get cut up, get a cheap budget boost from tera flex. Those things are a dime a dozen and forums are littered with used ones for $100.
Here is the real deal...first a few questions. What is your set up on your four door? Rubicon, X, Sahara? What are your gears? Automatic?
If you put 35's on there with an automatic and it isn't a Rubicon, you are going to want to re-gear before anything else. The four doors are heavy and the autos are geared pretty high. 35's or 37s need 5.13s in a four door.
Then, you also have to consider your front axle. If it isn't a rubi, the D30 is a joke a guys are breaking them all the time. Granted, they are breaking them when they are running 37s but the weight of the 4 door is a killer on that front d30, especially when you put big meats on it.
Just wheel with someone who has a winch and you won't need one.

That's what HuskerRubi does...jerk.
