I'm very new to the group and have an 04 Wrangler. I'm looking at removing the running boards that came with the original purchase of it; they have a Jeep logo on them, and install Body Armor TJ-4121 RockCrawler Sidebar (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000NP ... ss_product). The problem I'm having is the bolts are rusted on and they won't budge; already broke one wrench trying to losen it. The biggest problem is that I can't get to the bottom bolts with a rachet so I used a wrench and busted that thing. I even tried using vice grips, no love there.

I wish I could post some pics but I just put my Jeep back together (had to take the tire and plastic housing off to get to them). Any ideas? :?:

Thanks!

sounds like you need a bigger wrench. get some PB blaster and soak them for a few days (keep spraying once or twice a day) and then bring your jeep over to my garage. we will get them off in a hurry. if the impact gun does work...there is a field by my house with some broken up concrete that will take care of them quicker.

also...consider getting some real sliders:

http://shrockworks.com/Jeep-TJ-Rock-Sli ... 16150.html

i had these on my LJ and the install was involved but nothing anyone with basic mechanic skills can't handle well. there are other options out there and I would consider something like this as there is body protection and they are thicker.

x2 with Mikey! PB Blaster, PB Blaster, then maybe a little PB Blaster in between.

Ok, I'm mechanically illiterate here. I can do the basics and such but what's a PB blaster? I sent the other rock rails back and just need to save up for the others that Mikeys Rubi suggested. Those are exactly what I've been looking for; something that meets both the protection and looks good. I'm having my sister's boyfriend coming over this weekend to try to get the old runners off. :| He has changed trasnmissions and such before so he should have what I need.

Sh!t who knows, he might be able to do more that I think.

These actually came off much easier with a air wrench. Looks like I'll be getting one of those soon; don't want to use up all my tokens with my sisters boyfriend too soon. :G Now my Jeeps looks taller; hehe.

I've had my Jeep for several years but haven't found a good forum for discussions so excited now with all the information on here.

Thanks for the help and suggestions on rocker rails.

I'm wondering how long it takes for those Shrockworks to come in? I ordered mine early Feb and still haven't gotten them. Did you order them? If so, how long did they take?

they are notorious for taking months.

Well crap! Looks like I'm stuck waiting now. It's my own fault for not asking ahead of time.

the bad part is they take your money and then sit on it for months. having said that...it is totally worth the wait.
